Tulsa County
History
In the Green
Country of Northeastern Oklahoma,
Tulsa County was formed in 1905 from
Creek Nation land. Its county seat,
Tulsa, is on
I-44 about 100 miles northeast of Oklahoma City. Tulsa County is bordered by the counties of
Washington, Rogers, Wagoner,
Okmulgee, Creek and Osage.

Census Records
Oklahoma was
opened to white settlers with the Oklahoma Land Rush of 1889. The
earliest extant census for Oklahoma Territory is for 1900, and Oklahoma
Territory became a state in 1907. No Culpeppers
have been found in any Tulsa County censuses prior to 1920.
