Meade County
History
On the Ohio River
in the northeastern part of Kentucky's Pennyrile Region,
Meade County was formed in 1823 from Hardin and
Breckinridge Counties. Its county seat,
Brandenburg, is about 40 miles downriver from Louisville, and 140 miles west of Lexington. Meade is bordered by the Kentucky counties of
Breckinridge and Hardin, as well as by the southern
Indiana counties of Perry, Crawford and Harrison.
