History
In the Eastern
Coalfields Region of southeastern Kentucky,
Knott County was formed in 1884 from Perry,
Breathitt, Floyd and Letcher Counties. Its county seat,
Hindman, is on
KY-80 about 100 miles southeast of Lexington. Knott is bordered by the counties of
Breathitt, Magoffin, Floyd,
Letcher
and Perry
