Shawnee County

History
In northeastern Kansas,
Shawnee County was formed in 1855. Its county seat,
Topeka, is also the state capital, and is on I-70 about 60 miles west of Kansas
City. Shawnee is bordered by the counties of Jackson,
Jefferson, Douglas, Osage, Wabaunsee and Pottawatomie.
