History
In western Iowa on
the Missouri River,
Woodbury County was formed in 1851 from unorganized
lands. Its county seat,
Sioux City, is on I-29 about 180 miles WNW of Des Moines. Woodbury is bordered by the Iowa counties of
Plymouth, Cherokee, Ida and Monona, as well as by Union Co., SD and Dakota Co.,
NE.
