Dade County
History
Georgia's only
county in the Appalachian
Plateau Region,
Dade County was formed in 1837 from Walker County. Its county seat,
Trenton, is on
I-59 about 115 miles northwest of Atlanta and 20 miles southeast of Chattanooga,
TN. Dade, at the northeastern corner of the state, is bordered by the Georgia county of
Walker, the
Alabama counties of Jackson and
DeKalb, and the Tennessee counties of Marion and
Hamilton.
