Chattooga County
History
In the Appalachian Ridge and
Valley Region of Georgia,
Chattooga County was formed in 1838 from
Floyd and Walker
Counties. Its county seat,
Summerville, is on
US-27 about 85 miles northwest of Atlanta and 40 miles south of Chattanooga,
TN. Chattooga is bordered by the Georgia counties of
Floyd and Walker and the Alabama counties of
Cherokee and DeKalb.
