Central/Suwannee River Region of
Florida,
Suwannee County was formed in 1858 from
Columbia County. Its county seat,
Live Oak, is on
I-10 about 80 miles west of Jacksonville and 80 miles east of Tallahassee. Suwannee is bordered by the
counties of Hamilton,
Columbia,
Gilchrist, Lafayette and
Madison.
