Sarasota County
History
On the Gulf Coast
in the southern part of the Tampa Bay Region of
Florida,
Sarasota County was formed in 1921 from
Manatee County. Its county seat,
the city of Sarasota, is on
I-75 about 50 miles south of Tampa. Sarasota is bordered
by the Gulf of Mexico and the counties of Manatee,
DeSoto, and Charlotte.
