Duval County
History
On the Atlantic
coast in the Northeast Region of
Florida,
Duval County was formed in 1822 from
Saint Johns County. In 1858, the southern part of
Duval was split off to form Clay
County. In 1968, the Jacksonville City and Duval
County governments consolidated. Jacksonville is on
I-95 at the terminus of I-10, and it is about 25 miles south of the FL/GA
border. Duval is bordered by the
counties of Nassau, Clay,
Baker and
Saint Johns.

Westview
(Old Pickett) Cemetery
Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida. This very old, 7.5 acre cemetery is
located on Pickettville Road between Old Kings Road and Edgewood. About 3
acres of the land is vacant. It is mostly shady and fenced. A toxic waste
dump is located on the South, directly across Pickettville Road. Farms are
on the North and West; A creek flows by in a "ditch" on the East, then
vacant land owned by the railroad.
