Dixie County
History
On the Gulf Coast in the
North Central/Suwannee River Region of
Florida,
Dixie County was formed in 1921 from Lafayette
County. Its county seat,
Cross City, is on
US-19/98 about 90 miles southeast of Tallahassee and 100 miles southwest of
Jacksonville. Dixie is bordered by the
Gulf of Mexico and the counties of Taylor,
Lafayette, Gilchrist and
Levy.
