Randolph County
History
Randolph County was
created in 1832 from former Creek Indian territory. It is located in the
eastern-central part of the state in the Piedmont Region. Randolph is bordered
by the Alabama counties of Barbour, Bullock, Macon and Lee and the Georgia
counties of Carroll and Heard. The county seat is Wedowee. Other towns of note
include Roanoke, Rock Mills and Wadley. Wedowee is on US-431 about 30 miles SSW
of Anniston, 90 miles WSW of Birmingham, and 90 miles Northeast of
Montgomery.
