On the Gulf Coast in the Southwest Region of Florida, Collier County was formed in 1923 from Lee County. Its county seat, Naples, is on I-75 about 150 miles south of Tampa and 100 miles west of Miami. Collier is bordered by the Gulf of Mexico and the counties of Lee, Hendry, Broward, Dade, and Monroe.
