He suffered from rheumatism of right shoulder and wrist rendering it useless. He had very little income and no one to look to for support for his 160 acres. H.C. Davis signed that B.W. was an honest man..19

Dr. Howell had married Mary Levitia Weatherford, the daughter of William Weatherford (Red Eagle), a famed Native American Creek Indian Warrior. They were in Loer Peachtree from around 1841 till after 1850, when they migrated to DeSoto Parish, La. Their homestead was purchased by the Bryant family."20
