Obituary*7 Oct 2011 CHESAPEAKE - Ray T. Culpepper Sr., 81, passed away Oct. 5, 2011. A native of South Norfolk, he was the son of the late Crawford and Bessie Culpepper.
     He had been a resident of Bells Island, N.C., for 24 years. He served two years during the Korean conflict and had retired from Beltline Railroad after 40 years as an engineer. He had numerous hobbies but had a special affection for woodworking and painting.
     He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Aileen C. Culpepper; seven children, Kim Coley and husband Steve, Crystal Mundie and husband Jeff, Ray Culpepper Jr., Susan Lee, Kathy Huff, Bill Huff and wife Michele, Martha Watson and husband Jeff; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
     He was predeceased by his first wife, Esther and brother, Junior.
     A funeral will be conducted Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Foundry United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach. The burial will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, today from 7:30 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association or Pilmoor United Methodist Church in Currituck, N.C.
