- J. Jeffrey Culpepper, Attorney and Former Judge
Sal, Sellaro, Stephens, DeVall and Culpepper PLLC
Raised in Maryland, and educated at WVU, Attorney J. Jeffrey Culpepper was delighted to join the SSSDC legal team in March of 2009 after nearly 12 years on the bench as Monongalia County’s Family Court Judge. Jeff’s experience in Family Court, combined with his broad legal background in criminal, civil, and administrative matters, added to the formidable reservoir of legal knowledge and expertise at SSSDC, and helps to form one of the most comprehensive, dynamic, and capable legal teams in the state. Whatever your legal concerns may be, Jeff and his law partners take pride in their ability to serve you when it matters most.
Jeff and his wife Susan met at WVU where they were both students. During their 20 years of marriage they have raised a son, Jamie and a daughter Tess - both students in Mon. County’s public schools. After earning his undergraduate degree in Journalism, Jeff went on to earn his law degree from WVU’s college of law in 1993. Susan went on to earn her Master’s degree in education and has been a public school teacher in Monongalia County for 20 years. Meanwhile, Jeff has pursued a legal career, which includes nearly 12 years on the bench as a judge. In addition, Jeff’s legal career includes years in private practice handling personal injury cases, car accidents, medical malpractice, DUI, criminal cases, wills and trusts. Jeff’s practice continues to expand into new areas such as bankruptcy, social security, and unbundled legal services.
Jeff’s background also includes 3 years as a legal instructor at the West Virginia Junior College, service as a Law Clerk for Circuit Judge Robert B. Stone, Social Worker at Monongalia County Youth Services Center, and Communications Computer Operator for a U.S.D.O.E. contractor where he obtained a top-secret security clearance.
