- Becky Culpepper, P.E. – Young Engineer of the Year
The Bexar Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers recently named
Becky Culpepper, P.E. Young Engineer of the Year for 2007. This prestigious award is
given annually to a young engineer to recognize his or her technical abilities,
professional achievements, and civic and humanitarian activities.
Currently, as a Project Manager at Pape-Dawson Engineers, Becky leads a team of
engineers and technicians who work on multiple private residential and commercial
developments. She is continually coordinating with clients on projects such as
Stonewall Estates, Alamo Ranch, Ventura Plaza and Voelcker Ranch, to name a few.
In 2005, she received the Pape-Dawson five-year award and was also named employee
of the month.
Becky is originally from San Antonio and attended the University of Texas at Austin
where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering in 1999.
While she attended UT, Becky was actively involved in the student chapter of TSPE and
the Society of Women Engineers.
After graduation, Becky moved back to San Antonio and in 2000, she accepted a civil
engineering position with Pape-Dawson Engineers, Inc. and soon after began classes at
the University of Texas at San Antonio. She received a Master of Science degree in
Civil Engineering in 2000 and earned her Professional Engineering license in 2003.
Becky is also a licensed Registered Accessibility Specialist.
Besides being an active member of the Bexar Chapter of TSPE, for the last five years
she has organized the Proclamation Breakfast and the Engineer-for-a-Day program as
well as being on the committee for Engineers Week. She is also the Director of the
Engineering Technology Challenge, an event for local High School students held at
Becky’s community involvement has included being a volunteer for MATHCOUNTS, a
mentor to at-risk students from Jackson Keller Elementary School and a sponsor of the
United Way, Race for the Cure and the Special Olympics.
