(Marie Culpepper) Goree wrote about James Miles Culpepper on p. 25 of the addendum to The Life History of the Culpepper Family From 1633 to May 1949 (information before Elijah Clark Culpepper has been found to be incorrect): Attended Shellman High School and graduated from Clemson College in South Carolina in 1838, with the degree of B. S. in electrical engineering. Made a major in Army in 1944. Left for overseas duty with the 307th Infantry in March 1944. Awarded Bronze Star for meritorious service in August 1944.
