He reenlisted as a private on 5 Jun 1917 and was quickly promoted through the ranks to Seregant and then First Sergeant, serving in Headquarters Company, 5th Regiment, U S Marines, Allied Expeditionary Force. After the war in 1919, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, and by Aug 1937 had become a Major. He continued in this capacity through Dec 1940 and apparently stayed on to serve in WW-II. However, those service records have not been found.)6,1,7
