     He enlisted in the Georgia Militia in October, 1861, and served six months in Savannah, Brunswick Co, GA. He was discharged in March or April of 1862. He enlisted in the Confederate Army May 5, 1862, for a period of three years. He was taken prisoner at Cumberland Gap, TN, Sep 19, 1863. He was transferred from Louisville, KY to Camp Douglas, IL, where he died of "inflammation of the lung."2 
Death*24 Oct 1863 He died at Camp Douglas, Cook Co., Illinois, on 24 Oct 1863 at age 35. 
Burial*Oct 1863 His body was interred in Oct 1863 at City Cemetery, Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois. Grave No 781.3
