He was retired from Red River Army Depot; a member of the First Baptist Church, Maud; a Mason and member of Maud Masonic Lodge #859; and a Navy Veteran of World War II. During his tenure in the U. S. Navy, January 25, 1943 to January 25, 1946, he served in the Amphibious Force. He was an operator for an LCM landing craft. He was involved in the battles at Normandy Beach Head (D-Day), Saipan and Okinawa. He was preceded in death by a son, Rodney D. Culpepper and a grandson, Shanon D. Humphrey. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Peterson Culpepper of Maud; 1 brother, and a sister-in-law, Joe and Ramona Culpepper of Redwater; a granddaughter, Cheryl Von Staden; and one special niece, DiAnn Bransford and her children, Haley and John Bransford of Redwater.3 |
