Alcie (Alis) Ramsey married first, William Giles on 2/25/1894 and they had a child named Mollie.

Alcie then married second, J.G. Hester (?) on 5/28/1898 and they had no children.

Alcie as Alcie Giles married third, Thomas Dailey on 5/31/1903. They had sons named Sam, Floyd (who died in childhood) and daughter Essie [the person on this page]

Later Alcie married fourth, a Mr. Epperson, but she was buried as Alcie Giles.

Alcie bounced the children's names around: Sam Dailey later was changed to Sam Giles and Essie Dailey was changed to Essie Giles.

Sam went on to marry Marie Smith, they lived in Michigan, then South Bend-Indiana. In 1943 they were divorced and a year or two later he disappeared leaving Marie with all 9 children. My deceased Father-in-law was one of the sons. The few younger siblings were too young to remember anything and Grandma Marie never spoke about Sam. An older daughter now suffers from Alzheimer's. So any information I have to go on is slim.

I am hoping can help me piece together some of the mystery.

Obituary*11 Jan 2003 CULPEPPER, ROBERT H. (JIMMY) - passed away January 9, 2003 at Woods Memorial Nursing Home. A lifelong resident of Polk County and a member of Wetmore Baptist Church, he was a member of Plumber and Steamfitter Local #43 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. At the time of death he was the oldest veteran of foreign wars residing in Polk County. He was an avid fan and supporter of the UT Vols and Polk Co. High School athletics. Preceded in death by parents, John Franklin and Onie Jane Culpepper; thirteen brothers, Malcolm, Dora, Dolph, Grafton, Edgar, Peter, Clay, Leslie, John Harold, Joe, Reverend Paul, Charles and Norman; four sisters, Ollie Tullock, Maude Pack, Eunice Payne and Mellie Crumley. Survivors include nephew and caregiver, Max Culpepper; many nieces, nephews and special friends, Wilburn and Harriet Caldwell. The family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, January 11, 2003 beginning at 1 p.m. followed by a funeral at 3 p.m. with Pastor Edward Earl officiating. Interment will follow at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are: Johnny Culpepper, Charles Kerr, Nathan Swafford, David Green, Brian Culpepper and Ronnie Smith. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Wetmore Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 26, Delano, Tenn. 37325. Higgins Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.3
