He served three terms as Congressman from the Second District of Alabama and refused to run for the fourth term. The following were his children: Lucinda Stallings, born 22 Mar 1814, married to James Gafford, 7 Nov 1853; Martha Mosely Stallings, born 14 Nov 1816, married David Davenport; Celia Ann Stallings, born 14 Nov 1819, married Francis Swanson, 1 Nov 1845; Reuben Reid Stallings, born 14 Jun 1821, married Lucinda Ferguson, 10 Sep 1850; Jesse Chambers Stallings, born 8 Jan 1825; Robert Reid Stallings, married Lidia Seale, daughter of Ransom Seale and Ellen Murphy; Mary Mallory Stallings, born 20 Sep 1828; Archibald Reid Stallings, born 12 Jan 1831, married Nannie Cheatham; Elizabeth Sara Stallings, born 8 May 1833, married Allen B.
