(shown as single in 1880 census) and James Ervin (shown in 1880 as married with two daughters in the household, but no son named Matthew). Neither Jonathan nor Matthew have been identified in the 1880 census.2

Marriage*28 Dec 1823 He married Nertilda Hockett at Jones Co., Georgia, on 28 Dec 1823. 
Biography* The following was posted on the Conner GenForum by Julia G. Ledyard, August 1998:
      "My gggrandfather ws Torrance/Torrence Culpepper Conner. He was b. abt. 1790 NC. In 1823 he married Matilda [Nertilda?] Hackett/Hoket/Howcutt in Jones Co. GA. They had 7 children. Unsure of the name of first son, believe it was Richard H.
Second son was Willis.
First daughter was Serena, Matilda's mother's name.
Second daughter was Caroline.
T. C. Jr., Edward John, Nertilla were other children.
      I830 Bibb Co. GA, 1840, 1850 Crawford Co. GA. In 1860 Matilda, Willis, E. J. , Nertilla, Caroline with spouse Andrew Jackson McLendon, and Richard H. with spouse Susannah were all in Henry Co AL. No Torrance Sr. or Jr. Would love to find the parents of Torrance. Thanks for any help. Julia."
