Obituary*29 Mar 2015 COLLINSVILLE – Funeral services for Merzon Culpepper, 88, will be held Sunday, March 22, at 3 p.m., at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, Texas with Ricky Patterson officiating. Interment will follow the services at Collinsville Cemetery. Visitation services will be held Saturday, March 21, from 6 - 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

He died on March 18, 2015, at Methodist Charleston Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

Merzon was born on May 18, 1926 in Collinsville, Texas to James M. and Lorena (Ivy) Culpepper. He married Florence Carney on August 21, 1943. He worked for Dallas Plumbing Company before he opened his own, Culpepper Plumbing in Dallas. Merzon and Flossie retired in their 40's and moved back to Collinsville. They enjoyed traveling as well as taking hunting and fishing trips. Merzon was a member of the American Legion and an active member of the "Good Timers Club." He loved to dance.

He is survived by his daughter, Camelia Rose and husband, Dickey, of Duncanville; son, Bil Culpepper, and wife, Kay, of Trinity; granddaughters: Lorri Stangl and her husband, Arthur, of Duncanville; Robin Eakins, and husband, James, of Grand Prairie; great-grandson, Jake Stangl, of Grand Prairie; great great- grandson, Braden, of Mansfield; brother, Jerry Culpepper and wife, Jenny, of Denison; sisters: Martha Sue Hanning of Denison; Dorthy Worsham of Collinsville; Sandra Plummer and husband, Melvin, of Farmers Branch; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Culpepper; parents, James and Lorena Culpepper; and brothers: Steve Culpepper and James Edward Culpepper.9

     Flossie was born on Nov. 7, 1924 in Collinsville, Texas to Charles Jacob and Rebecka (Gillium) Carney. She married Merzon Culpepper on Aug. 21, 1943 in Collinsville, Texas. She was an active member of the Good Timers Dance Club in Whitesboro, Texas and was in charge of the refreshments for the last 15 years. She loved to dance. She was of the Baptist Faith. She loved hunting: deers, turkeys and bears. She also loved to fish. She loved being outdoors.
     She is survived by her husband, Merzon Culpepper, of Collinsville; daughter, Camelia Rose and husband, Dickey, of Duncanville; son, Bil Culpepper, and wife, Kay, of Trinity; granddaughters, Robin Eakins, and husband, James, of Grand Prairie; and Lorrie Spangl and husband Arthur of Duncanville; great-grandson, Jake Stangl, of Grand Prairie; great-great-grandson, Brandon, of Mansfield; sisters: Wanda Pearson of Whitesboro; and Juanita Vannoy of Sadler; and brother, C. J. Carney, of Collinsville.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Rebecka Carney; and sister, Faye Ragsdale.

Mr. Culpepper passed away Sunday, Oct. 1, 2006, at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman, Texas.

Steve was born on June 28, 1941, in Collinsville, Texas, to J.M. ?Buster? and Lorena (Ivy) Culpepper. He married Glenda Richardson on Aug. 29, 1959, in Whitesboro, Texas. Steve started working for his father with Culpepper Plumbing and Air as a young teenager. They founded a family partnership in 1964 with owners Steve, Buster Culpepper and Jerry Culpepper. Steve was a member of First Baptist Church since 1965 and he served as a deacon since 1976. He was a member of Whitesboro Rotary serving as Treasurer for 35 years, a member of the Whitesboro Chamber of Commerce and was chosen as the Outstanding Citizen of the Year in 1995. He served on the Whitesboro City Council for 3 terms over four decades, and also served as Mayor Pro-tem. He was instrumental in passing bond elections for new schools for the Whitesboro ISD. Steve was a strong supporter of the Whitesboro Booster Club. He loved to travel, camp, fish, play golf, take jeep tours and he especially loved his family. He and his wife Glenda have also hosted seven foreign exchange students over the years.

Steve is survived by his wife, Glenda Culpepper of Whitesboro; a son, Dewayne Culpepper of Denton; a daughter, Penny Renfroe and husband, Rusty, of Whitesboro; two grandchildren, Reagan and Jordan Renfroe of Whitesboro; two brothers, Jerry Culpepper and wife, Jenny, of Denison and Merzon Culpepper and wife, Flossie, of Collinsville; three sisters, Martha Sue Hanning of Denison, Dorothy Worsham and husband, Tom, of Collinsville, and Sandra Plummer and husband, Melvin, of Farmers Branch; and numerous extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Culpepper.

Pallbearers are Charlie Whitecotten, Randy Sanders, Mike Pack, Earl Sanges, Tommy Neal, Gene Young, Smoot Earnhart, Chris Clark. Obituary*17 Jan 2012 Funeral services for Glenda Culpepper will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Meador Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Carney officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery of Whitesboro. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2012 at Meador Funeral Home.

Mrs. Culpepper passed away Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Medical Center of Plano.

Glenda was born on December 2, 1942 in Pilot Point, Texas to Ed and Dorothy (Duncan) Richardson. She married Steve Culpepper on August 29, 1959 in Whitesboro, Texas. He preceded her in death in 2006 after 47 years of marriage. She was a homemaker and community volunteer.

Glenda was a member of the First Baptist Church since 1965 where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and worked in the church's nursery for 45 years.

She was a charter member of the Contemporary Women's Club since 1971. She served on the Whitesboro Public Library Board for over 20 years. She was a member of the Whitesboro Area Chamber of Commerce where she volunteered for over 30 years. She served in several offices and was on the board of directors for well over 10 years. She was named a Lifetime Member of the Chamber, named a Director Emeritus, and had received the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011.

She opened her home to seven foreign exchange students and two local college students, whom she loved dearly. She became GG to not only her own two grandchildren, but to everyone who loved her. Glenda was a woman of hospitality and generosity, and always wore a smile. She was a woman of faith and had a true servant's heart. She believed in her community and volunteered countless hours for it.

Glenda is survived by her daughter, Penny Renfroe and husband Rusty of Whitesboro; two grandchildren, Reagan and Jordan Renfroe of Tulsa; three sisters, Gail Cole and husband Joe of Whitesboro, Marcia Mordecai and husband John of Collinsville, Angie Lemons and husband Billy of Whitesboro; two brothers, Joe Richardson and wife Peggy of Sadler, and Marc Richardson and wife Judy of Afton, Oklahoma; and numerous extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband Steve Culpepper, her son Dewayne Culpepper, and her parents Ed and Dorothy Richardson.

Pallbearers are her nephews Todd Cole, Chad Lemons, Kirk Lemons, Brent Mordecai, Bruce Plummer, Jason Richardson, Joe Richardson, and Tom Worsham.

In lieu of flowers, friends are invited to send memorials to the Cowboy Junction Church, who are rebuilding after a devastating fire. Those desiring may send donations to the following: Cowboy Junction, 27544 South 4380 Road, Vinita, OK 74301.

Dian Garrett, 62, of Texarkana, Ark., died Monday, March 1, 2004, in a local hospital. Mrs. Garrett was born May 19, 1941, in McCaskill, Ark. She was retired from Texarkana, Ark., School District and a member of County Avenue Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by one stepson, Greg Garrett. Survivors include her husband, Frank Garrett of Texarkana; three sons, Tony Payne and Eric Payne of Texarkana and Matthew Payne of Denver; one daughter, Dana Payne of Atlanta; two stepsons, Keith Garrett of Texarkana and Randy Garrett of Little Rock; one stepdaughter, Terry Thomas of Texarkana; one sister, Brenda Robbins of Vilonia, Ark; one brother, Benny Culpepper of Nashville, Ark; and five grandchildren.
