Taylor County
County History and Geography
In the
Rolling Plains Region of west Texas,
Taylor
County was formed in 1858 (organized in 1878) from
Bexar and Travis
counties. Its county seat, Abilene, is on I-20, about 120 miles west of
Fort Worth. Taylor is bordered by the counties of
Jones, Callahan,
Coleman, Runnels and Nolan.
