County County History and Geography

Blanco County, in the Hill Country of south central Texas, was formed in 1858 from Gillespie, Burnet, Comal and Hays counties. Its county seat, Johnson City is 40 miles west of Austin and sixty miles northwest of San Antonio. Blanco is bordered by the counties of  Gillespie, Burnet, Llano, Hays, Kendall and Comal.
