County History and Geography

In the Inner Coastal Plain and the southeastern part of North Carolina, Robeson County was formed in 1787 from Bladen County. Lumberton, its county seat, is on I-95, about 90 miles south of Raleigh. Robeson is bordered by the North Carolina counties of Scotland, Hoke, Cumberland, Bladen and Columbus, and the South Carolina county of Dillon.
