Lenoir County

County History and Geography

In the Inner Coastal Plain and the eastern part of North Carolina, Lenoir County was formed in 1791 from Dobbs County. Kinston, its county seat, is on US-70, about 70 miles southeast of Raleigh. Lenoir is bordered by the counties of Craven, Jones, Duplin, Wayne, Greene and Pitt.
