Union Parish
History
In the Uplands region of
northern Louisiana, Union Parish was formed in
1839 from Ouachita Parish. Its parish seat,
Farmerville, is about 80 miles east of Shreveport and 200 miles NNW of Baton Rouge. Union
is bordered by the Louisiana parishes of
Morehouse, Ouachita,
Lincoln, and Claiborne, as well as by
the Arkansas county of Union.

Cemetery
Also known as Weldon Cemetery, this Cemetery is located in the extreme
western part of Union Parish, next to the Claiborne Parish line, on LA
Route 2, near Bernice. A partial census was taken by Steve Porter in May
2004 and provided to Culpepper Connections. A
full census was taken by Media Thurmon and Bob Reeves, published as
the "Centennial History and Memories of Weldon Baptist Church and
Community, 1900 - 2000" and posted to the USGenWeb Archives.
