Murray County

History

In the Ridge and Valley Region of Georgia, Murray County was formed in 1832 from Cherokee County. Its county seat, Chatsworth, is on US-411 about 90 miles NNW of Atlanta and 40 miles southeast of Chattanooga, TN. Murray is bordered by the Georgia counties of Fannin, Gilmer, Gordon and Whitfield and the Tennessee county of Polk.
