McDuffie County
History
In the Piedmont Region of Georgia,
McDuffie County was formed in
1870 from Columbia and Warren Counties. Its county seat,
Thomson, is on
I-20 about 125 miles east of Atlanta and 35 miles west of Augusta. McDuffie is bordered by the counties of
Lincoln, Columbia,
Richmond, Jefferson,
Warren and Wilkes.
