Lee County
History
In the Upper
Coastal Plains Region of Georgia,
Lee County was formed in
1825-26 as an original county from the Creek Cessions. Its county seat,
Leesburg, is on
US-19 about 165 miles south of Atlanta and 75 miles southeast of Columbus. Lee is bordered by the counties of
Sumter, Crisp,
Worth, Dougherty and
Terrell.
