Habersham County
History
In the Piedmont Region of Georgia,
Habersham County was formed in 1818 as an original
county from the Cherokee cessions. Its county seat,
Clarkesville, is off US-23/GA-365 about 90 miles northeast of Atlanta. Habersham is bordered by the
Georgia counties of Rabun, Towns,
White, Hall,
Banks and Stephens, and the South Carolina counties
of Pendleton (extinct) and
Oconee.
